cannot play stream tracks |

Dear all,
I tried to play stream CD tracks from some online music database through
campus network. And I keep getting this on the pop-up window:
"Cannot play these tracks!
Error number: -1072885352
Error description: Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The
server name might not be correct, the server might not be available, or your
proxy settings might not be correct."
Other public computers in lab are fine playing those whereas I noticed they
are installed Windows Media Player ver. 9 instead of ver.10 on my laptop.
I have no problem playing music from another on line music database, whereas
it uses QuickTime though.

That error means the server isn't there. Sounds like your networking
configuration on that machine is wrong.

Nope. I tried it on my desktop and it was all fine; my desktop is installed
MWP v.9.

Actually, that wouldn't really be a counterpoint, since both potentially
have different networking configurations and network cards... *shrug*

Both use the same VPN networking setup to authenticate the connection; I
don't know to what extent that counts. |
