Testing my luck here ! Can you please confirm if I am right saying the
following ?
a) there are at least 2 versions of codec 9,
b) the first codec 9 release was only compatible with Windows Player 9 users,
c) the second release of codec 9 (called Advanced Profile) is compatible
with 'old' Windows Players, in the sense that these Players now will
automatically download the codec used by a video file encoded this way,
d) when publishing a wmv file with Microsoft Producer, you get this choice
of selecting Player 8 or 9 series. Is it now safe to choose Series 9 on all
occasions if you are using the Advanced Profile version ?
f) in which directory do the Windows codecs normally reside ?
g) what is their name (*.dll) ?
h) are other files needed to activate a codec ? Do they have a registry
entry for each one ?
Thank you
