I can't download itunes for my Win98. Are there any players (free) that can
totally replace WMP? I keep getting a dsound.dll error when I start my
WMP7.1. I have uninstalled and re-installed several times to no avail. What
can I do? Thanks...

Real player can play MP3 files if that's what you're looking for.

I'd consider that dsound is a DirectX file not a media player file, so
the problem lies elsewhere than the player.

If you go to the Start menu, choose Run and in the box type

dxdiag.exe

That will run a diagnostics on your files, from there you can actually
test all aspects of your sound card are working properly. If some of
the tests fail for any reason, it's possible the sound card drivers
might need to be refreshed.

This link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=56511&clcid=0x409 is
available to update any required DirectX files over the internet, to
the newest version. You'd better not have a modem though, cause it's a
42MB download ;-))

Note it won't affect your sound card drivers, you'd have to look for
the install CD or the manufacturers website for those.

HTH
