When I try to convert an AVI to WMV using the Convert a file wizard, the
program crashe and I get an error message: Unspecified Error (0x80004005).
Any ideas why? I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times
and continue to receive the same error. Sometime I get a "Catostrophic
Error"????

It's worth checking first if WMP can play the file. If it can't, see
what codecs GSpot reports are in use by directshow, my guess would be
you have a damaged codec for whatever-is-in-that AVI.

One other thing to check - are you sure the AVI is an even number of
pixels in both directions ? I seem to remember crashes sometimes when
the AVI's X-Y dimensions weren't divisible by two.

Cheers - Neil
