I can get WMP or for that sake realplayer to play AVI files, the ask for a
codec I can find

It won't. On a Mac they simply are not intended for that.
Try VLC or Mplayer X (or install the DivX and 3ivX codecs and play the
movie in QuickTime Player).

This is hilarious... how the hell do you post questions here? I signed in
via Passport and don't see anywhere that allows me to make a new topic... I
only seem to be able to reply.... This is so typical of Microsoft, hahaha...
Thank God I use a Mac.

That's because you're using the web interface to access the newsgroups
(and obviously it is buggy as hell - just like WMP ;-) ).

This newsgroup is hosted on a regular newsserver. You can access it
directly using a news-client (I use MacSoup, but there are plenty others
- even Entourage can access the newsgroups).

You can alsouse the Google newsgroup interface instead of the one
offered by MS (and this one works much better).
