Cannot Open Mpeg Files |
|
|
Using WME 9.00.00.2980 on a XP Pro - SP2 machine:
I cannot open any mpeg file. If it's a small file, WME closes with no error
message. If it's a large file, WME hangs up. I have about 5 or 6 mpeg
decoders on board. I looked at the same mpeg files I was trying to open with
GraphEdit. The system is using the elecard demuxer and video/audio filters,
and they play OK. The elecard filters are the registered variety (fully
functional). I even tried a file from a commercial DVD just to be sure I was
using one that was fully compliant - still wouldn't open.
Also, installed WME on another XP Pro - SP2 machine with the same results.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Tried installing WMP 10 with no luck. WME still will not open any mpeg file.
It either closes without a dialog, or closes with the normal Microsoft
dialog.

Both XP machines now have WME 9 and WMP 10 installed. Both shut down WME
when attempting to open any mpeg file;
1. Computer 1 - has Power DVD, Intervideo DVD, Zoom Player, Nero Player,
Elecard Player, VLC Player. When opening an mpeg file with WMP, the
properties show that the elecard filters are being used. The files play fine.
2. Computer 2 - has Elecard Player and Zoom Player. Also, have the
Intervideo and Cyberlink filters on board and registered. Mpeg files played
with WMP show the cyberlink video filter and intervideo audio filter are
being used.

Re: Cannot Open Mpeg Files |

I was finally able to get WME working on one of the PC's. As I suspected, it
was a Direct Show filter issue. I set the merits of the various filters so
that the system would select the elecard demux, elecard mpeg decoder, and the
direct show mpeg audio decoder. I believe the elecard audio decoder was part
of the problem - if I substituted that one for the default direct show audio
decoder, it would not work.
