Redirect to Streaming Media Server |
|
|
We're new to Windows Media Services and are trying to get our Windows Streaming Media Server working outside our firewall, in the most secure way we can and we need some suggestions.
Currently we have a standard IIS 5.0 server running on Windows 2000 Server as our web server. We want to add the ability to serve media from our Windows 2003 Enterprise server using the builtin Streaming Media server.
We setup a Virtual Directory on the Win2k Server and used it as a redirect to the mms://win2k3ent server. This works fine internally, but from outside we cannot access it. When using the outside link we used mms://win2k3entPublicIP/PublishingPoint for the link.
Windows media player opens, but it says the server can't find the file. The same exact link works from inside our firewall.
I have read about specifying which protocol to use on the Windows Media Services, but I can't find where to do that. When I right-click on the server name it only has options like Start/Stop/Add/Deny Connections but no Properties to change anything. Am I missing something?
What is the best way to achieve what we want and be as secure as possible?
