Ok, first I ripped my dvd to my hard drive, enabling video and audio_ts
folders.
Second, I went to WME and set the source up for that 4.7gb VOB file.
I noted that for Mark in/out, the duration of the entire video is being seen
by WME as about .517 seconds. Hmm, but I don't see how that affects the
output file, since it will encode much more than .517 seconds. However, if I
ever wanted to mark in a scene of interest, I wouldn't be able to.
I got set to encode, and hit Start. I notice 20-30 seconds into the movie,
it skips past about 25 seconds of the scene. I stopped and watched the output
file, and sure enough, that part is skipped.

Ah, I just thought I'd also note something else.
In WME, I have the framerate set at 29.97 fps. I don't know why, but if I
try 23.976, the video plays back jerky. If I try 29.97 fps and inverse
telecine, still, jerky playback. So, at 29.97 fps, I am confused why a film
is 29.97 fps. The film is Jay and Silent Bob strike Back.
In virtualdubmod, under Frame Rate, it says the default frame rate of the
movie is 23.976, and again, I wonder why the two programs, Vdubmod and WME,
are contradicting each other.
If i encode in vsub mod at 23.976 fps, the video falls behind the audio
right away. Arg, I'm just getting sick of encoding the same clip over and
over again. :(
Another weird thing is that vdubmod isn't as fast as wme at encoding.
Ok, so I'm just super ticked that I can't do anything right with either of
these programs.

Hello Jimmy, I seem to recall reading that film is shot at 24 frames per
second (23.976) and t.v. at 30 fps (29.97). I ripped some DVDs using
DVDDecryptor and then encoded using WME 9.0 at 29.97 fps. I had to install
the Elecard mpeg2 decoder first and then all went well. I have a dual 2.4
ghz machine so I have plenty of power. The VOB file is encoded using the
mpeg2 codec and I am pretty sure that is 30 fps. I think I encoded to a 1
or 2 MB stream rate. I didn't notice or do anything about the mark in and
out.
