Re: windows media encoder for macintosh |

I'm not aware of an encoder which can produce WMV that runs on a Mac.
So it looks like your options are limited to using VirtualPC
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/virtualpc/virtualpc.aspx?pid=virtualpc
and then inside the 'virtual windows box' running on your Mac, install
the encoder software. It's not likely to be high performance however.
Another worrying thing before you spend your money, the site above
doesn't seem to list OS requirements. Certainly I'd consider it
possible that it's for OSX only. If that's the situation it might be
better to consider looking at the WINE project, I'm sure there will be
a release for OSX. This will likely provide windows emulation support
if available for a fraction of the cost of VPC.
As in all these emulations though, if you're shellig out $200 for VPC
and another $xxx for a windows CD to install the live PC image, it
might be cheaper to get a 2nd hand PC and put windows onto it.
Your call - Cheers, Neil
