Trouble with MPEG2 VOB files from Panasonic DVD-R Camera... |
|
|
Has anybody tried to convert a .VOB file coming from a Panasonic DVD-R
camera?
The camera records to small 2.8GB DVD-Rs.
Once the DVD-R is finalized it can be played back in any DVD player or PC
(using any DVD progam such as WinDVD).
Trouble is that it looks like the VOB streams are not very "clean".
I tried to re-encode these VOBs to WMV but the encoder "chokes" on the
files.
Some files work but with most of them the Encoder just encode 1-2 minutes
and than says its done.
The resulting file looks good but way too short of course.
I had a similar problem trying to convert the mpegs files from HDTV
Transport streams.
Here it is fairly easy to find out what the problem is...as soon as there is
a little "signal lost" in the TS the encoder stops.
(BTW: DrDivx has no problem with both of them!).
I tried single-pass, dual-pass, VBR, CBR - no difference.
Has anybody some idea?

Try using Elecard MPEG2 decoder, it's much more tolerant than the average.

I'll second that opinion.

I tried the elecard. It just puts a nasty logo on the top right corner -
does not look very professional:-)
Has anybody registered with Elecard? It looks like they only register OEMs
or other companies.
I found a way to fix this (also got some tips in the MVP corner of the
newsgroups).
Now I am using VobEDIT to Remux my streams - that fixes the timecode issue.
Once the timecode is corrected WME9 can work just fine
My next project - re-encoding .DVR-MS (HDTV) streams to WM9....that looks
like fun, too:-)

I think if you buy there player it includes the non-watermarked decoder. I
would make sure by asking them though.

Thanks for sharing the solution you have. |
