Encoder Profile? |
|
|
Sorry for the long question but this is all new to me.
I am currently capturing all the old family video tapes to disk. I am
capturing to AVI format. I am then breaking each avi file into smaller
scenes.
Here's the problem now - I am getting very low on diskspace on my 500GB
drive and need to use some compression to archive these files into a format
that I can use at a later time. I have hacked around with the batch encoder
sample but am really unclear what settings I should use in the profile. My
ultimate target will be making DVDs.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Are you aware that using compression your video may present artifacts if
recompressed?
About the profile, what are your exact needs quality/size wise?

You should create high quality "masters" then, using a custom profile with
Quality VBR set at 100 for video and use WMA VBR with the highest setting too.
Once done, you can use any DVD authoring utility to burn the files to DVD.
