Is Wmp 9 series a suitable option for encoding cds? |
|
|
Hi,
I'm looking to re-encode all my cds (in wma I've decided)for a new portable
player I've just bought. At the moment I'm using wma 9 series (for win 98).
The encoding process seems extremely fast, and I am wondering whether this
has any adverse affects on sound quality (I'm guessing it does). I've been
told that a better process (for sound quality) may be to rip the cds into
wav files (using a programme like cdex or audiograbber) and then compress
these files using other software in2 wma(dbpoweramp). Is the latter the
better method for achieving better sound quality or are there other methods?
Thanks for any responses.

Hi N.Nahide,
Rip speed should not be an issue when encoding from a digital source.
Please refer to the following page for more information:

Hi N Nakayama,
Some other things to consider, WMP 10 supports batch encoding, volume
leveling, WMA, WMA (VBR), WMA Pro Lossless, MP3 file format encoding and
allows you control the bit rate that each of your files are encoded at.
Also, If you’re using WMP 10 and have decided to encode your music at a
bitrate that your music player does not support, WMP 10 will automatically
transcode the file to a supported bitrate before transferring it to your
device.
In regard to your question about the speed at which music is encoded from a
CD, you don’t need to worry about loosing fidelity unless the CD media has
been damaged or your systems CPU usage goes above 100%.
