WMP10--worthwhile? |
|
|
Using Windows XP Pro SP1. I have Windows Media Player 9 installed. I don't
use it often though, as I like an alternative freeware media player (Media
Player Classic) (latest version 6.4.8.2) better.
I see on Windows Update that Windows Media Player 10 is now out, and I
wonder if I should upgrade 9 to 10.
What improvements are there in WMP10 vs. WMP9? Is anything worse in 10? Or
are they pretty much the same, and the differences only cosmetic?
Are new codecs installed with WMP10? Are there wmv10 and wma10 codecs to
replace the 9 versions? If so, better compression and quality? Is there a
new version of Windows Media Encoder with WMP10?
Any input on this would be appreciated, to give feedback that would help one
to decide whether or not it would be a good idea to upgrade from WMP9 to
WMP10. Thank you.
