For WindowsMediaPlayer and other players: www.3ivx.com.
Otherwise use QuickTimePlayer or RealPlayer which both have
internal support for .mp4 files.

I've downloaded mine from http://www.mpegable.com/show/mpegableds.html
It works pretty well for me.

DVD is MPEG2, btw, Windows Media player should be able to play MPEG4, since
there are the codecs for it...
That is different of course if it's some other variant (QT, RM, Divx, X-vid
or *ivx)...
You can also try looking at www.doom9.org for more codecs...

MPEG4 is pretty old, i can't remember any place still using it...
You can convert to MPEG4 some clips you already have with a software like
VirtualDub though---

i got a codec that works - it's for my new Sony ericcson K700i mobile that
uses mp4 (bit lossy, but high compression apparently)
