WMP plug in NOT working in browser! -HELP!! |
|
|
I have a iBook G4 and I am unable to open a plug in (the little WMP window)
within a browser (tried both Safari and IE). However I am able to open a file
in the WMP application separately.. but for some reason whenI click on a
streaming audio link within the broswer, the WMP plug-in just sits there..
and does not even attempt to connect..
Any response/help is much appreciated!
Thanks

Try repairing permissions on the Mac (Through DIskUtility) and
reinstalling WMP. The installer should re-enter the proper settings for
the plug-in. If it doesn't, it can be done manually but it's a bit of a
pain :-\

There is a known issue when attempting to play Windows Media content
from the WindowsMedia.com site, and it's acknowledged in Microsoft's WMP
9.0 for Mac OS X Readme file:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/software/Macintosh/osx/read
me.aspx
Although the Readme only concerns itself with the specific
WindowsMedia.com site, it certainly may cause a problem on any other
site that uses the same Web page coding techniques.
Let's just say that WMP for Mac is not as useful as its Windows
counterpart is.
