In OS 10.2.8 the player displays an ad for some stupid isave club?
I have deleted pref files and favorites files and restarted but no matter
what I try to play I get the same static image of an ipod.
Please help?

What version of WMP do you have ??? I sure have never ever seen (or
heard about) that before!

What you describe looks like some kind of "open at startup" file...
