Nope, you need to delete the corresponding pref file.
From the FAQ at http://www.cortig.net/wordpress/index.php?p=4 :
| Quote: | How can I clear the list of recent items:
- delete the "Windows Media Favorites" file in the pref folder. In other
languages, this file might have a localized name like: "Favoris de
Windows Media" in French.

Did all manner of searches for the file, and could not find it. Tried again
some time later, and found it. Deleting it had the desired effect. Have no
idea wht it didn't show up in any of the searches, though finder said the
file was created at a time AFTER my first search, and some of the items on
the list were there from many weeks ago!

That's weird... It might be a good time to check the hard drive for
directory damage... If you don;t have any specific disk utility for
that, boot on the Mac OS X install CD and use DIsk Utility from there to
check your drive. (it's in the menus).
Don't proceed with the MacOS X install of course ;-))
