I have wmp10 and am on a Windows XP platform. When ripping cds to the
library, about one in eight will hit a point where the process freezes. Once
this happens, it locks up the laptop completely, and I have to cold boot. If
I try to rip the same disc, it will do the same thing at exactly the same
point on the disc.

Anyone know what would cause this, and how to avoid it?

Is there a firmware update available for your CD drive?
Does this happen if you rip CDs in analog mode instead?

(speaking for myself and doing this in my free time)
