Similarly to an earlier message, my windows media player appears to
have ceased working. I have tried following instructions previously
given ie delete from preference files but file name doesn't appaer to be
there. The icon appears in the dock and just bounces. I can't even
delete from my HD because when I try to empty trash it says that the
file is still open. If it's open I can't see it anywhere and am thus unable
to close it and therefore trash and start again.
Very frustrated !!
Hope someone can help

??? You should have both a pref file and a .plist file.
~/Library/Preferences/Windows Media Player Prefs
~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.mediaplayer.plist

Log out and log back in. You should then be able to empty the trash. If
the files are "locked" press the alt key as you empty the trash.

The other thing to try is go into the Terminal application, type

Chflags -R nouchg

Type a space after nouchg then open the trash can and select everything in
the trash, drag it into the terminal window then hit return. This should
unlock everything, then empty trash.

Yeah, there are also a bunch of freewares that will to it for you, but I
thught that simply pressing the alt key was simple enough ;-)
