Did the device come with an installation CD? Have you checked the
Philips website for updates to their software? |

Yes, I've checked the updates on philips and it still doesn't work. I've
tried removing media player and reinstalling and it still doesn't work.
Please help.

Which model are you using? Capabilities vary enormously from the little
64MB devices to the larger jukeboxes.
Does it require the horrible Philips DMM software? You will have to make
sure that your account is an Administrator in order to struggle with
that nightmare. I tried to get a friend's Philips MP3 player to work but
the wretched software was too buggy. Very nice hardware, awful software
(same goes for Sony). |

naa, they've stopped using the stupid dmm software, its now "media player
sync" with this playforsure thing microsoft has going on.
its the new 30gb hdd6320, it works with XP fine but not with XP media
edition. I just called philips and they said i should take it back to the
shop and get a refund... very helpful. so i've filed a complaint with philips
management.

Not with all models. Some of the newer ones are still trapped in DMM-land.

Yes. My friend took hers back too (and the Sony it was replaced with).
There's a lot of nice-looking hardware out there but very little of the
mainstream software works very well. My iRiver H340 is pretty much a
doorstop as it takes 5 minutes to boot, iRiver appear to have stopped
supporting it (although it's still in stores) and WMP doesn't work with
the non-US firmware models. |
