How do I open the sitx file in order to install the windows
media player? I downloaded version 9 for my OS X machine.
I don't have a former version... is that the problem?

Drag it onto the StuffIt Expander icon (/Applications/Utilities/StuffIt
Expander/).

Maybe you need to get the latest version of StuffIt Expander. Some versions
warn you if there is an update. Otherwise, you can get the latest version
here:
