When everything is coming your way
You're in the wrong lane going the wrong way

Received the below email and neither of the links will work. I'm using a
Man G3 OS10.2.8 with Mail and Safari. It's the Clowns@Microsft doing a
number on the Clowns@Apple thing and we users suffer.

I further try (1)WINDOWS MEDIA NEWSGROUP (which does have a drop
down menu for (2)WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER FOR MAC) never the less
and I get a message from Steve Lanier (MVP) who sends me to
COMMUNITIES.MICROSOFT.COM/NEWSGROUPS/DEFAULT.ASP where I
end up at
(3)MICROSOFT.PUBLIC.WINDOWSMEDIA.PLAYER .MAC.

Now if that is not confusing enough if I try every combination and
permutation of the "subject" and "by" fields I end up with nothing but
the original message form good old Steve.

Now I know you people are the smartest people in the world but this
OLD DOG is having a hell of a time with you're NEW TRICKS.

I am sending this to as many Microsoft sites in the desperate hope that
someone will have my answer

It's simply a feature on the website you used to access the newsgroup.
Obviously this site is buggy...
I would STRONGLY suggest that you'd use a real newsgroup client (try
MT-Newswatcher: It's good and it's free) instead...

Well the new trick would be to avoid using the web interfaces for newsgroups
and use one of the many newsreaders out there.
You can access the newsgroups using the server your ISP provides, or if you
just want the MS newsgroups, you can use news.microsoft.com

Yeah, that's the reason why I hate the web interface. A lot of people post
questions, but they have no idea how to get back to the group to read the
answer. The only website that's really worth is as far as I am concerned (for
newsgroups) is the Google newsgroup search engine: very convenient to find
out whether the question you are about to post has been answered 20 000 times
already ;-))

Since I wasn't sure you'd find the newsgroup back easily, I took the liberty
to forward the answer by e-mail as well
