Where do I get mpeg2dmx.ax file? |

Hello!
I was having problems with Windows Media Player v6.4 and 9.0 (10 didn't
help) in playing back MPEG-2 files I made from my new Air2PC-ATSC-PCI
HDTV tuner (http://www.bbti.us/products_air2pc_atsc_pci.htm) and DVB
Viewer v4.3.2 (using Sonic CinePlayer DVD Decoder that came on the
CD-ROM). The outputs were the videos and audios in very slow motion.
Playing my recordings in WinDVD 6 and PowerDVD 5 didn't show these
symptoms. Media Player Classic v6.4.8.7 and VideoLAN Client Media Player
v0.8.4a seem to use their own MPEG-2 decoders which suck (e.g., choppy
[not slow motion] and show pixels (refresh problem?). I am using Windows
XP Pro. SP2 (all updates) on an Athlon 64 3200+ system with 1.5 GB of RAM.
I was told to try mpeg2dmx.ax file from someone into Windows' system32
folder/directory (never had this file since Windows Explorer didn't
overwrite an old copy), register it, and try again. I tested both
Windows Media Players and they worked smoothly! I asked where this file
came from, and he said it was from Elecard. I never used their products
on this computer.
Are there any other sources where this file come from? Is XP supposed to
include it? I have had Windows XP installation for over three years.

I'm unaware of the origins of that file. Easiest thing to do first is to
check file properties. If those don't indicate anything (version # can also
be indicative), you can simply view the binary in your favorite text editor
and scan for useful strings.
