I'm trying to listen to a radio station that uses a webcast, streaming with
WMP 9 on OS X. However, safari (and every other browser I've tried -
Mozilla, IE, etc...) keeps saying, "Cannot open the file. Verify that the path
and filename are correct and try again." Any thoughts?

It's a fairly common problem. It's caused either by a bad formatting of
the .asx file or by a bug in WMP. In either case, you usually can
workaround the issue by downloading the .asx file to the desktop
(control-click in the link to get the option) and opening the file in a
text editor. In the file, you'll see references to a mms:// link. Copy
the address and use it through the Open URL command in WMP.

This issue is driving me crazy. I have a web company that streams for music
artists. We finally figured out how to get video clips to stream properly by
not using variable encoding. With fixed encoding, it will work on Macs. But
we are now having problems with audio streams. The 9.0 codec in video
appears to work, but using the audio 9.1 codec, we get the same error message
when a Mac user tries to stream one of our files. Unfortunately, we are
going to have to go back and start doing Real streams.
