Automatic Playlists |
|
|
I'm having some serious problems with the built-in playlists in WMP10 (XP
SP2): simply put, they have stopped working! When selecting one in the
player, I get a message saying the files doesn't exist. I have found the path
name the player uses, which is in English even though I have a Norewgian
setup, but the real path of the lists seems to be a mixture of English,
Norewgian and cryptic combinations of letters and numbers. I have tried
reinstalling WMP10, but that made no difference. How can I get the
auto-playlists to function in the player again without loosing the special
functionality they provide?

I've seen that message myself, but don't remember the context off-hand.

Do you have a roaming Windows XP profile by chance?

A reinstall is unlikely to change existing user settings.

Have you tried creating a new one? |

I guess I could make new ones... The thing that really annoys me about this
is that the lists are all there; I can browse to them in Explorer and double
click on them, and WMP10 will play the files. The issue is that installing a
MTP device changed the directory and file names (at least I think that's when
the problem occured), creating a lot of directories that seem to contain
almost the same, and I don't know which folders are for the devices, so
manually changing the names might not be a good idea. Isn't there a way of
getting WMP10 to install the basic lists and structure again?

Ah yes that rings a bell. Thanks for mentioning it before :-).

You would probably have to rollback to v9 and then try a reinstall. Zach
might have a better suggestion. |
