When I try to play a wmv file Safari opens an it tries to download v9.aspx.

Nothing happens. No movie and no download.

Any ideas?

Select the file in the Finder and type command-i. There make sure WMP is
the application that should be used to open the file and then "apply to
all". I don;t quite see why you'd need to have the file opened by Safari
which in turn would call the WMP plug-in...

i beleive these are secure video files that require licensing to view. it's
part of newer security measures to reduce pirated videos..

if your system plays most other wmv files this is probably the case with
the ones you're haviing problems with.

If the files are protected using DRM 1.3, you're OK. If they use DRM 7,
then we cannot use these files on a Mac :-\

Sure, but there is still no reason why double-clicking the file should
open Safari and not WMP directly. Since there are many bugs through the
Web-Browser plug-ins, you'd be better of having the file open directly
in WMP.
