Encode live streams on server side |
|
|
Is it possible to:
* encode ONE high quality live stream at the remote live event at aprox
600 kbits
* send that live stream to the remote streaming server
* the remote server live encodes that stream to several different bit rates
to sends those streams out to the world at 600 kbits, 384kbits, 200 kbits,
and 56 kibits
So the users looking at the live stream can choose the correct bitrate that
fits their level of network congestion.
is this possible or desirable ? As most of these live events have limited
upload bandwidth, it seems like a good solution in theory....With this
method, you would only need a 600mbit upload capacity. The Streaming Server
handles all the other bit rate encodes.
many thanks as I am a Windows Streaming Server newcomer
