Media playback question or 2! |
|
|
I am using about 4 diff players because of the diff codecs found in each
player BUT I am wondering why the players dont use the codecs that are found
in the entire system, does it matter WHERE the Codecs get downloaded to? Like
if I used a 1-fits-all Codec package that incuded Ogg,Divx,XVID and all the
tougher to play stuff to system32 would ALL of these players be able tp play
the same stuff without me constantly using diff Media players?
Last Q, I need a player that is easy to use setting up subtitles, I like
to watch foreign films and it requires a player that can download subtitles
so I am in need of a good player for that and I cant even figure out how to
get them to work iin Media plyer from msn. Can anyone help me answer these
Q's please?

Codec packs are a very, very *bad* thing to install in your system.
They are very likely to mess up Windows as many packages contains spyware
plus it's a sure fire way to kill WMP for good.
If you need a flexible solution try a multifilter like this one:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Codec-Packs-Video-Codecs/MSUN-Decoder-Pack.shtml
About MSN, make sure the option is activated on both MSN and WMP, it's under
plug-ins.

Are subtitles "switched on" in media player ? There's a guide here :
http://www.captionkit.com/switchoncaptions.php
Doom9 has a good subtitle guide for ripping subs from DVDs and other
sources : http://www.doom9.org/subtitle_guides.htm
HTH
Cheers - Neil
