I have a small video .. created using Premiere Pro 1.5
It`s a 16:9 video .. size 720 x 576 using pixel aspect ratio D1/DV Pal
Widescreen 16:9 (1.422)

The file .. avi .. looks perfectly the way it`s supposed to.

(Media player says it`s 4:3 actual and 16:9 displayed?)

According to MS i can preserve the Pixel aspect ratio by encoding the video
leaving the size the same as the source. But the wmv file, played in
windows media player (latest) shows up as being a 4:3.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/howto/articles/AdvancedEncoding.aspx
I Quote:
"If you set the size of the output video to be the same as the source
video, and the source video has nonsquare pixels, then the pixel aspect
ratio of your source video is automatically preserved in the output video.
Windows Media Player 9 Series or later automatically interprets and scales
the video appropriately during playback."

Well .. any suggestions ?

Also .. say i wanted the file encoded into something smaller than 720 x 576
how would i preserve the right aspect ratio on both image and pixel? or is
this no issue i schould concern about .. and just calculate the image
ratio?

Are there any tools out there bether than MS enocder when it comes to
encoding 16:9?

I do have Canopus Procoder 2 also .. but it to seems to give a *bip* abouth
whatever i specify in advanced settings .. the wmv file it stille 4:3

ant help would be very much appreciated

Regards

Jesper

Did you Apply & Save the settings in WME? In my experience you need to do
both for changes to take effect .

Great! I find that if you try a few times - Apply & Save (even exit and
reopen too) stuff starts to work ;-)
