Possibly your CPU was over-loaded during capture (?)- the audio should only
take up a small amount of the final WMV. Were I you, I would step back and
try to do a pure audio capture. If that works, then try again with video
(screen capture in your case) added. You might need to consider halving the
capture rates in WME if CPU load is a factor. Use Task Manager or similar to
monitor what is happening with PC memory & CPU during capture attempts (yes
it's a bit tricky to do during screen capture)

May I know why audio quality is so poor and importantly there are
dropouts.
I have used a Dell Inspiron 600m, WinXp Home, Wndows media encoder 9 to
record this narration.
