I have Windows Media Player 10 and I'm trying to get 5.1 enabled but it does
not seem to be working in options>>dvd>>advanced. The button is disabled for
6 speaker mode (5.1) but my motherboard is supposed to support 6 channel
speakers. I don't know what's wrong and is there a way to easily get it
turned on? I've already tried setting the speaker options in control panel to
5.1 sound but still I'm not getting everything on 5.1 Do I need a 5.1 card?

You can "enable" 5.1 only if the playable content is 5.1 and the codec
supports software 5.1 channel (this is in case your audio card is just
stereo).

The playable content is a DVD that actually says in the audio options in the
dvd menu that you can enable 5.1 I clicked it and it still doesn't play in
full 5.1 It would probably save a lot of fuss if I just went out and got a
Audigy 2 ZS. Thank you.
