Late Read Rate |
|
|
I think I must be the only one to have this issue because I can find nothing
on the Net about this other than a description of the error:
I have a HP poweredge Dual Xeon 3.4GHz with 2GB RAM and (2) 10k SCSI drives
with 1GB NIC. When starting the encoder (on Dell 810 notebook, approx 65%
CPU util), and starting PP on Media Server, the Late Read Rate flaps between
0 and 1. According to MSoft, the Late Read Rate non-zero means the I/O of
the hard disc is overloaded, but when Perfmon'ing the hard drives, they
aren't even close to breaking a sweat.
Has ANYONE had this issue? I have no bottle necks anywhere on this system,
and this happens even with NO CLIENT connections to the media server.
Thanks

Hi,
Do you get any performance issues? I take it this is a live stream only you
are talking about as it is from the encoder. I have streaming servers which
show the same thing but have not apparent issues with performance ie have had
over 1500 braodband streams out of servers and 3-4k lower bitrate without any
issues except running out of bandwidth occassionally! That is........to be
honest I believe this is a red herring as the HDD's are not really used
during live streaming and would certianly not cause a bottleneck prior to
your network interface and memory.

There are no apparant performance issues, but I have not loaded down the
server with client connections yet. You are right, it is when streaming
live, and the hard drives are doing almost nothing, but the error (or
appearance of one) bothers me.
Thanks for your reply, it make me feel a little better...
