Questions about WM DRM 10 for Portable Devices |
|
|
Hi,
I am planning to develop a portable WMA player to support Windows Media DRM
10. Before requesting the porting license, I would like to clarify something
about the requirements of Windows Media DRM 10. The scenario is listed below.
Background of my portable WMA player:
-- It implements "Windows Media DRM 10 for Portable Devices" and uses
"Indirect License Acquisition" method to acquire license from a PC
-- There is no built-in mass storage device. It uses some "removable
devices", such as USB Drive to store all protected songs, or CD-R, CD-RW to
to play protected songs that are tranferred from a PC.
-- There is an external digital-to-analog converter that is connected to a
MCU/DSP chipset. The WMA decoder will be run on that MCU/DSP chipset
Questions:
(Assumption: All protected songs' licenses include an AllowCopy right to
allow them to be transferred to the device.)
1. Does DRM 10 allow the WMA player to store the protected songs in those
"removable devices", i.e. USB Drive, when an end-user transfers those
protected songs to that portable WMA player that is directly connected to a
PC?
2. Does DRM 10 allow the WMA player to play the protected songs from CD-R
or CD-RW?
3. How to store the "acquired licenses" of those protected songs? Can they
be stored in those "removable devices"? Does it require a built-in mass
storage in the portable WMA player to store those "acquired licenses" if it
cannot be stored in those "removable devices"?
4. If protected songs can be stored in those "removable devices" but the
"acquired licenses" can only be stored in a built-in storage device, how can
the WMA player to identify which license corresponds to which protected song?
5. How to implement "Secure Audio Path" in such scenario?
