Can i add any attribute i want to the header?
If i want the media player to read these additional attributes, do i have to
modify the player as well?

Yes you can add your original attribute.
For example : <CustomerID>JAPAN-001</CustomerID>

can media player read these attributes, and how big can the attribute be?
can i embed a jpeg inside - (if i write it as binary for example)
