The documentation for Windows Media 9 Server shows that several of the
fast start URL modifiers can be used for players and distribution
servers as clients - meaning you can specify a URL modifier in the
source of your publishing point and have it work.

I'm doing this for WMContentBitrate to set a limit on the bandwidth
that a distribution server streams from an origin server with
multi-bitrate content, but it doesn't seem to be using the modifiers -
still streaming the highest bitrate.

example of my source specified in a publishing point -
rtsp://sourceserver/publishingpoint?wmcontentbitrate=200000

Can anyone tell me how to make this work properly or where to find more
info?

Thanks so much.

Hi,
I've used the WMContentBitrate in my asx files like this:
<asx version="3.0">
<entry><ref
ref="mms://server/ondemandpubpoint/media.asf?WMContentBitrate=100000"/>
<Title>title</Title>
<Author>etc....

and that works well. For limiting streams to a distribution server
I don't know sorry, but this is how I've used the URL modifiers to
limit client (player) streams.

regards
Mark
