Help needed getting new server online |
|
|
Hi there,
I have a new webserver that is to replace my old webserver. The old one
didnt have a firewall, but did have lots of websites and would stream
video and audio quite happily. Now that I am moving the sites over, the
video does not appear to work at all.
This is a test stream: mms://81.201.139.223/vids/2005battle1-100k.wmv
I have asked my host to setup the firewall exactly as MS says to. They
say they have, but I am yet to get anything out of the server.
I am not in the position to add another IP yet, but will probably do
this at a later date. Can anyone help me get this going? Is there
something that I am missing?

Hi
You need to open another port on firewall for all Windows Media http
request comming.
In Windows Media Service Console set this port number for WMS HTTP
Control protocol properties.
Now your request should have this port number appended to it as shown
below :90
mms://81.201.139.223:90/vids/2005battle1-100k.wmv
what happens is that windows media rolls over this request into http
protocol and since port 80 is been occupied by webserver it does not
stream the request.
Hope this answers your question.

Hi Ambar,
I wasnt aware this could be done. Do I need to allow UDP or TCP port 90
in and out on the Firewall?
I have enabled port 90 on the server, thanks for your help.
Kind regards,

Yup, got the Firewall opened on port 90 and all is great now. The new
server is much faster than the old one, and the network seems to be
quicker too :)
Thanks for everyones help!
