I have hundreds of DV-AVI clips I am sending to DVD. I would like to batch
compress them so I can keep clips on my computer also.

How do I do this?

You can download Windows Media Encoder, there's a batch script included
(look into the app folder) that can be used to encode whole folders at time.

even get launch an application from the app folder

Did you go to the command prompt to launch it? scripts can't be just double
clicked to work...

No, you should use start - run and type "cmd"

From there you should reach the folder with the old DOS-like commands and
set the batch encoder to work.

I'm trying to transocde a bunch of MP4 files to WMV and have installed the
codec from 3ivx.com. However, I can't get the batch encode to realize that
it can convert MP4 files. My MP4 codec is a DShow filter and the standard
WME app will transcode the files without issue.

Is there a way to mass-convert MP4's form the command line?
