many posts on buffer dalays and windows media. tons of articles on
lowering the buffer delay, but can somebody point me on how to get down
to <5 seconds from the time the person speaks in front of the camera to
the time the other person recieves the stream in their player.

The encoder delay can be adjusted down to 1 seconds
The player delay can be adjusted down to 1 second
The 2003 streaming media server can be adjusted to no bufferring
period............

so where does the total 8 seconds come from then??????

Any registry hacks?

I understand that the technoliogy was developed to buffer to give the
viewer a smooth experience, but in today's demanding real time world we
need to be real time or as close as possible to it when doing live
broadcasts...

any thoughts comments, experiences, concerns?

Thanks, EB

Try changing the key frame interval on the encoder to 1s as well. WMP won't
start playing a stream until it gets a key frame.

Not that I'm aware of. You could use a tool like Ethereal to try and figure out
where the network packets are getting buffered.
