I am having problems with windows media player 9. As soon as I open my shared folder a file within it tries to open right away. It makes my explorer's memory triple in size, and uses 100% of my cpu power. I cannot delete this file from my shared folder, and windows media player wont play it. it gives me an error that says "Class not registered". The error code from windows is 80040154, but i cannot find any information on this.

Can anyone help me delete this file safely?

THanks

Hi Tomman,

This error means taht information needed to load the next component in the
playback list is not present. If you're getting this error message when
attempting to play most content and not just AVI files you will need to
re-install Windows Media Player on-top of it's exisiting install.

For more information regarding this error message please refer to the

Have you tried loading and running the latest version of directX,or ActiveX,
As the decode for the file you are trying to open is not registered in the
database of Windows Media Player. Until such time as windows builds a 'Class'
file for Windows Media Player, we will need to go fine our own solutions to
this poblem. Running a more advanced Media player may sle the problem. Good
luck.
