No information.

Which version of media player do you have installed ? Or...

Does your PC's software match the stated requirements for running
whichever version of encarta you are using ?

I suppose what I meant was can you review the requirements for Encarta
which are stated in the documentation for that program, and compare
them to what is currently on your PC.

With XP you may have media player version 8 or 9, depending on if you
did a system rollback after discovering you had a 'worm'

The first stop would probably be to grab updates from the
windowsupdate website, and get your media player up to the most recent
media player 9. Then reinstall Encarta and see what happens.

I dont have encarta here to try, so its difficult to diagnose, I'm
assuming the program comes with spoken examples as well as on screen
encyclopedia, but the help files for that should tell you what's
required to play those samples.

The properties says it's file version 9.0.0.2980. If that doesn't help, you'll have to tell me how to find the version.
