Problem playing internet radio |
|
|
Hi all,
I've been having trouble listening to internet radio, such as Yahoo's
LaunchCast.
The problems started about the time I installed FireFox, followed by
Sun's JVM. This led me to believe the problem had something to do with
the JVM, so I've reinstalled Sun's, then reinstalled MS's, then
removed Sun's, then removed FireFox, to no avail.
I've tried to listen to a few radio stations, with IE, FireFox, and
RealPlayer's built in browser. This has led me to believe something
might be wrong with some media player they all use.
The phenomenon I experience is the browser loading the radio page, but
not being able to play any music. No error message is shown, and when
I play with it a little the browser responses become extremely slow.
At this point, there's hardly any CPU activity and the hard disk is
silent as well, so some strange network activity has got to be slowing
down everything.
I work on two computers, both identical regarding the network (LAN).
The other one plays just fine, so this cannot be some firewall or so
problem. My PC is a 2.4 P4 with win2k and IE6, kept windows updated.
Does anyone have an idea as to what might be causing this?
Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks,
Eran

What format are those sites broadcasting in? What player are they trying to
load?
Does using the Radio Tuner links within Media Player work?
