Please help!!! Whenever I attempt to open Media Player, it immediately
closes. I am attempting to delete and reinstall it, but when I try to
empty the trash can, I receive an error message that the operation
cannot be completed because the item is locked. I desperately need
Media Player for school. Thanks in advance.

hold down the alt key and while you keep it down, empty the trash from
the trash icon in the dock.

I am not sure what I am missing. I too have been trying to delete because it
continually crashes so that I can reinstall. I dragged the files to the
trash but it still says locked. I hold down the alt key but I have to let up
on in to click on the empty files button within the trash icon. Can you
please explain it to me one more time? Thanks~!

What do you mean you have to let go the alt button to click ??
I can hold down the button with my left hand and click with the right...
I'm a little puzzled there :-\

I'm also trying to delete WMP so that I can reinstall it. I tried
deleting the WMP items in the trash can while holdiing down the Alt
key, but it doesn't work. It just says that a bunch of files are
locked. How do I get these files off my computer? Thanks.

You have to hold down the alt key as you select "Empty the trash" from
the icon on the Dock. It doesn't work through the shortcut or the
regular menu.

Just to clarify: it’s the Option key, not the Alt key. The “alt” is o
the key to confuse Windows users (or maybe to help them, I dunno). Th
“alt” was only added to the Option key relatively recently; some olde
or third-party keyboards may only say “option” on it. Just my 2¢

What's the difference ?? It's the same key. Depending on what version
keyboard you got (and what country), the key is labeled alt or Option.
(or with a funky logo that means the same thing).

I have a couple of rather old ADB keyboard around here that have alt and
option on the same key :-)
(but it's true that I found a USB keyboard that only said Option).
I don;t know why they made that so confusing...
