I upgraded to WM9. Now every time I boot windows XP in my profile WM9 launches automatically. I tried to restore but no joy. I am also unablw to uninstall WM9 and start over.
Any suggestions as to how to keep WM9 from launching until I want it to? Or - how to uninstall it?

Im guessing summit silly has happened as Im unaware of this problem.
Here are some places that win32 programs normally start at boot-up...

1) Startup folder.
* Click on the START button, then goto PROGRAMS, then goto STARTUP.
* Delete WMP9 if its in there (and/or its shortcut)

2) Registry run ***WARNING: Editing the registry can be dangerous***
* DO NOT touch anything in the registry if you are unaware as to how it
works, delete/edit the wrong thing and your PC could never start again!!!
* Browse to the following locations and check if WMP9 is loading there, if
so... delete JUST the WMP9 line.
a) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
b) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Note: The registry editor is started by going to START >> Run program, then
typing in "Regedit" (without quotes)

3) Files.
* Check the following files for links to the WMP9 executable (the program),
and delete whatever follows the run= on the same line, etc
a) %windir%\win.ini
b) %windir%\system.ini

Problem seems to be solved. Thank you! I used the regedit option "b" as you suggested. This is strange - the first time I've seen somoething like this. I appreciate the help. PS: The computer still starts.....
