I have WMP version 9.
I am using OSX 10.3.9 on an eMac G4.
I was running Broadband on 300K. I am now running on 2MB.
I have been having this problem for ages now and I'm at my wits end!! Can
someone help?
When I try to view video from web sites the video runs for a few seconds
then jumps or freezes then starts up again, then after this has happened a
few times the video stops completely. A message appears that says 'Buffering'
and the picture disapears.
I have tried running with default buffering and clicking on Buffer rate
gives a rate of 10 seconds.
I have even tried changing this rate up and down but I still get the same
problem.
Any suggestions what I can do to sort this annoying problem?
I also have Quick Time Player 7.0.1 which runs with not a scrap of bother.

I have that fairly often with some servers. I really suspect it is
caused by a lousy server that can't keep up with the multiple people
trying to connect at the same time. I don't think there is a workaround
if this is indeed what's happening.

I suspect WMP simply doesn't use this pref (known bug).

This one is a known bug for sure, but don't worry, WMP will always use
the lowest bitrate no matter what... :-|

If this is such a big known problem (am I being naieve here?) why doesn't
Microsoft do something about it?

It sure has been reported. They haven't done anything about it so
far.....
They used to have links you could use to report problem or send
suggestion but now the link redirects towards the WMP home page.
This link:
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp
redirects me to the MS French support site (which doesn't offer any such
possibility). I'l have totry on a Mac in English so that it won't
redirect me. It might still be active in the US site.
