Windows Media 9 for Mac Quits on open |

Windows Media 9 for Mac Quits on open. I use Mac OS X 10.4.2. I tried
every thing delete and reinstall. Delete and reboot then reinstall. But
it dose work under other user. But it just wont work under my user.
Please help!

Try repairing the Permissions using Disk Utility, then:
- delete the WMP preference files:
~/Library/Preferences/Windows Media Player Prefs
~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.mediaplayer.plist
(~/ represents your user folder)
and try reinstalling the app. That usually helps,

I'm kind of with you would you be more specific-regarding Permissions Folder?

Look I am going thru this exact difficulty, same OS same same. Permissions

:-) There is no permission folder :-)
Launch Disk Utility, select your drive and click on the "repair
Permissions" button there. It should repair permissions on your drive
(and you should do this at least once every other month or so or after a
major software install).

Did that, Media Player 9.0 doesn't work. . . I am beginning to think that
media player 9 was written to drive mac user's crazy. I wish you knew someone
who actually was successful with running media player on mac so I could go to
them. . .

I have 4 Mac here running WMP under Tiger.
I think unsuspected interactions aare responsible for the fact that WMP
can run on a Mac and not another. I recently read an article on O'Reilly
that mentioned that they could not read DRM protected files unless
Classic was installed. WMP doesn't use Classic, but is stores
DRM-related files in one of the Classic folders.
Of course, there are also the usual: corrupted prefs that stick around
when you think you've removed everything before you reinstall,
permission and directory problems, accented (or other non-US ascii)
letter in the name of the drive or the path to the file......
Out of curiosity: do you have classic installed ??
