handling custom extensions |

Writing a simple extension to read a custom file type with my own
estension. Not really sure how to do this though. I can add the
extension in the registry and make the WMP the default handler. I also
created a "background plugin" that will be notified of all events.
However, i am not sure how to get the file handle itself and how to
inform WMP that the plug in has already handled the file.
Is it possible to write a separate exe that can write into the WMP
playlists? In which case, I can register this exe as the default
handler for my file.
Any suggestions?
