My system: iMac flat panel G4 (768MB RAM, 40GB HD) running MacOS 10.3.9

Player: Windows Media Player 9 for MacOS X

Issue:

I'm trying to play Windows Media files (*.wma) on my Macintosh. When I
try to open the file, I receive the message "The channel does not
support the stream format."

The files that I'm trying to play are generated by my voice mail
system. Whenever I receive a voice mail, I receive an email that
includes the voice mail in *.wm format. The messages play fine on my
Dell PC running Windows XP.

I cannot find any updates for the Macintosh media player on Microsoft's
site. Also, I haven't had any results while 'googling' the error.

Has anyone else ran into this problem or have a solution? iTunes will
not play the file at all. Is there a tool that I could download to
convert the file to a different file format?

Thanks,
h

Yeah but the PC has a much different version of WMP.

Nope, WMP hasn't had an update in quite some time.
It could indeed be that the file has been encoded with a codec not
supported by our version of WMP.
You can try reading it in VLC or converting it to MP3 through EasyWMA
