I have just bought a new apple, and want to take my music files from
windows media player across (which I gather are in .wma format). I
tried copying the files/album onto a portable device, and then dragging
them onto itunes, but they didn't appear in the itunes library. The
itunes help kind of suggested that they would be automatically
converted if I did that, but it didn't seem to work. Anyone know what
I should do instead? Or am I trying to do the right thing, just
stuffing it up somehow? JPG

You need to convert the songs to a format iTUnes supports. Try EasyWMA
converter by Patrice Bensoussan:
http://www.carrafix.com/EasyWMA/
It should do the trick provided the songs are not protected.
If they are, you can burn them to a CD (as music, not WMA) and re-import
them in iTunes. There will be some quality loss, but hopefully you won;t
be able to hear the difference except on a very good stereo,

Corentin,

Thanks very much. The iTunes help does suggest that it can convert
things automatically - but I certainly couldn't get it to do it!

Thanks.
