I'm confused on the right to set to be able to transfer content to portable
players like the mufo2.
If set te pmappsecurity to 150 allowed transfers to sdmi and nonsdmi and
tried different pmrights settings and still the content won't play on the
player itself. wmp9 does transfer the file and decreases the tranfer
count, but when I try to play the file, the player says the content is
copy protected. wmp10 gives an error during the transfer stating the
content can't be transcoded. Can anyone help me?

What type of content is it? IE the file extension.
What is the value of the pmrights setting? 1, 16, 17, 19, 45 etc.
Have you tried reducing the pmappsecurity to say 100 or lower?

Thanks for your response Tim. The content is .wma files. For the pmrights I
tested 3,17 and 19. 1 I couldn't get to work, if I disallow both sdmi and
nonsdmi transfers the pmrights seem to dissappear altogether. I'll will
test pmappsecurity 100 and lower(untill now I only tested 150,450 and
1000). How should I understand the pmapprights and pmappsecurity in
relation to the sdmi/nonsdmi distinction. Are the appicable to both or
only the nonsdmi players or is it the content that is sdmi?

kirkie

Bit 1 is AllowPlay (01)
Bit 2 is AllowTransferToNonSDMI (02)
Bit 5 is AllowTransfertoSDMI (16)

The pmappsecurity is used to detemine player has sufficient security rights
to handle the license. If the device's player does not have a high enough
security level the content will not play.

When creating the license are you using LicenseServer.dll or WmrmObjs.dll?

What brand and model of device are you using?

I'm using whe wmrmobjs.dll, and a mufo2 1.5gig player to test with.
The transcoding error I got in wmp10 turned out to be a error due to wmp10
trying to reencode the file to a lower bitrate. But now that one is gone I
still get the copy protected message on the portable player.

Kirkie,

I'll forward this on to someone in a position to write up the bug. He may
or may not ask for more information.
