simple Steps to Break Microsoft DRM |
|
|
One important question bothering us is:
Suppose, I protect the my content with WM Rights Manager and just allow user to play 1 time in his PC.
Question 1: We are allowing him to play the video in his PC. Can he connect the computer screen monitor output to TV and By Connecting Video recorder to TV Output, he can save the stream?
Is this possible or am i missing. I dont think microsoft will allow this? Any reply from Microsoft people is highly appreciated
Question 2: Is it possible for the user to record the content from PC in any other way.
If Yes, what is the alternative to stop this.
If No, which properties do i need to make it false in WMRM.
We are abt to launch the site, and the content provider want this assurance from us. Hence I am sending this query to you.
This is very important stage for us and we are just 1 day behind the launching. But if user can record the content from TV? Then our business model will fail.
So I want to know what are the different ways, I can stop him ?
Am i missing something here or is it possible to break the microsoft DRM with the above mentioned steps.

1) Yup, if he has video or audio output jacks they can
plug it straight into a recorder. Probably not the best
quality for video but it works. For audio they can use
TotalRecorder and get a perfect copy right off the sound
card.
There is stuff called secure digital path you can require,
but it's worthless as no hardware out there supports it.
2) are there other ways to break this, sure, i'm guessing
there are video grabber programs that can grab your video
stream right off the video card.
DRM isn't foolproof, it's a 99% deterrent stopping the
casual consumer from doing stuff. If they want it bad
enough, and spend the time, they can get access after they
get a valid play license.

Hello
1.about analog copy
To deter analog copy we can use 'water mark'.
For example my VOD Service using WMRM9 implement 'dynamic embedding
water mark into contents'.
By using the function contents provider can trace illegal copy.
2.about MS-DRM9 security
As far as I survey there is no software to crack DRM9 protected
contents.
MS-DRM7/7.1/9 had only one problem but I already report Microsoft WMRM
Team about it and got reply that it will can be fixed soon.
After DRM10 was released we can treat Digital Contents more without anxiety
:-)
Thanks

about that watermark thingy
what you are doing is using Windwos hidden Palladium to trace, this is forbidden in most EU countries...
just dont forget about the rights of the users. Tracing might be helpfull on your end, but it could damage you more than it can help you ...!!!
